How we make it happen: Actions

climb south promotes youth participation and intercultural education by organizing short and long-term solidarity projects in which young people from Argentina and all over the world participate.

The short-term projects are the “Intercultural Cooperation Meetings” (internationally known as “workcamps”). Long-term projects last from one month to one year. Financing can be provided by the volunteers themselves or by the European Voluntary Service (EVS) - with financing from the European Union in Argentina. All our projects have the objective of education for interculturality and peace through the practice of cooperation. We are inspired by our experience of promoting youth service in, and the spirit of international voluntary service in the world as practiced by our international partners who are part of networks such as CCIVS-Unesco, ICYE, SCI, UNOY and Alliance.

The two main programs climb south are:

In Argentina!:

Volunteers from the rest of the world and Argentina participate in our intercultural cooperation meetings (workcamps), medium and long-term projects and European volunteer service that we organize together with our Argentine partners. To develop this project the team of climb south works in alliance with partners that promote youth participation. Throughout the year we organize the following activities:

  • Local training workshops on youth management tools and how to organize intercultural solidarity projects: Budgeting, planning, press campaigns, etc.
  • Workshops on dialogue, interculturality and political-cultural in relation to each project.
  • Follow-up visits to our partners to support them in the preparation of the projects: the participatory selection of the projects, building contacts with the government and local companies.
  • Training of new intercultural facilitators. Young facilitators trained with climb south and other organizations coordinate meetings in conjunction with youth groups.
  • Constant communication via Internet with our international partners to give visibility and promote our projects in Argentina.
  • Funding search activities.

To the world!:

We send Argentine volunteers to intercultural cooperation meetings (workcamps), medium to long-term volunteering in the rest of the world (Europe, Asia, Africa and America) and European Voluntary Service in Europe. To learn more about what these projects are, please visit Frequent questions. To develop this program climb south does the following activities:

  • Volunteer service campaign: via the Internet, press, computer meetings, workshops with universities and schools
  • The logistics, administrative steps and information exchange that make the exchange possible

Seminars and exchanges:

In addition, through the network of partner organizations and according to the objectives of Subir al Sur, each year we support and participate in specialized seminars and exchanges on different educational and social issues.
