For Subir al Sur, volunteering is an act of mutual exchange between a person or a group. The volunteer offers his or her time, skills, desire and energy for the benefit of a project of general interest and the community that receives it offers a terrain for learning, experimentation and personal and collective construction.
SAS works WITH volunteers and FOR volunteers. Our main objective is to understand what those who participate in our projects need and how to carry them out satisfactorily for all parties. We do this in collaboration with other organizations.
We promote youth participation and intercultural education by organizing short and long-term solidarity projects in which young people from Argentina and around the world participate.
We currently have three main areas in operation:
INCOMING

It is the area that is responsible for the reception and training of young people from different parts of the world. The program receives more than 50 young people a year and is responsible for coordinating their accommodation, projects and training.
We develop a medium and long-term methodology. We believe that participation, to be meaningful, both for the volunteer and for the local organization that receives it, requires a minimum stay of three months. Medium and long-term volunteer projects are developed together with our partner organizations in Argentina. climb south is in charge of training, monitoring and accompaniment of the volunteers' experience.
OUTGOING

It is the area that sends young people from Argentina to different volunteer programs in other countries through our partners. There are projects all over the world!
It allows young people from Argentina to participate in solidarity projects in the rest of the world, promoting the training and development of volunteers from the perspectives of interculturality, solidarity, human rights and the promotion of peace.
STUDENT TRIPS

This area has a part of received and another of shipment. We receive groups of university students and coordinate their participation in local projects, in turn, we also send young people from universities and schools to international projects.
Which are the requirements?
The only requirement to participate in volunteering is to be over 18 years of age and pay a participation fee that varies according to the country, time and project you choose.
What types of projects are there?
- Short term: 1 to 5 months (ICYE STePs)
- Long term: 6 to 12 months (ICYE Longterm)
- Workcamps: 1 to 4 weeks, fixed dates (different networks)
→ live with a group of international volunteers working together on a shorter project

Why a participation fee?
The participation fee consists of a small part for Subir al Sur and the majority for the local project organization of your choice. It is necessary because the project in which you are going to participate is self-sustaining and living costs must be covered during your stay.
WhatDoes it cover the participation fee?
- The quota for SAS It covers a preparation, support and mentoring seminar before and after volunteering and project management (with all administrative costs included).
- The fee for ICYE partner organization It covers accommodation, food, local transportation, pocket money for volunteers of 6 months or more, medical insurance, training (on-arrival training) and support during the project.
- In the case of a workcamp, the organization fee is normally very low and covers accommodation, food, local transportation and accompaniment.
What the fee does not include are flight tickets, accident or civil liability insurance, and visa or vaccination costs.
